Washington, DC –Anna Aurilio, the Washington, D.C. office director for Environment Nevada, a project of Environment America, announced the organization’s endorsement of state Sen. Michael Roberson in the 3rd Congressional District Republican primary.

“With so many critical environmental and public health issues facing the people of the 3rd district and the nation, we want to make sure that voters know which of the candidates in the Republican primary are likely to do a better job to protect our air, water, public places and our families’ health,” said Aurilio.

Environment America and Environment Nevada gave their endorsement to Roberson because in the state senate he fought for bringing more clean, renewable, solar energy to the state of Nevada. As Majority Leader he said: “Solar jobs are a win-win-win proposition here in Nevada. Solar energy uses our state’s most abundant resource – the sun – and preserves our most precious resource – water – all while creating a new economy and new jobs for Nevada.”

“When we look at environmental issues facing Nevada and the nation, at the top of the list are protecting our precious landscapes and getting a handle on the climate crisis – and the droughts, wildfires and other extreme weather disasters it will bring. When we look at the current field in the Republican primary we see state Sen. Roberson as the best option for the voters and environment in the 3rd Congressional District,” said Aurilio.

“Of course should he win his election, we hope Roberson will do even more to protect our air and water and other natural resources of Nevada and the nation. In particular, we hope he will help lead the Republican party to usher in a truly clean energy economy and deal with the other major challenges facing our environment,” Aurilio concluded.
