Environment America Commends States as "America's Clean Energy Stars"

On Nov. 14th, 2007 Environment America was joined by Congressman Ed Markey (Mass.) and environmental allies to tout the role states have played in moving America toward a cleaner and more secure energy future. Simultaneously, in more than a dozen states, we were joined by governors, legislative leaders and top energy and environmental regulators in calling on Congress to follow the lead of the states by adopting a strong energy bill that saves energy, ramps up renewable energy, and begins to reduce our nation’s oil consumption.

Tell Your Senator – Keep the Clean Energy Economic Engine Going

Don’t let the Senate drop the ball on clean energy. Tell your senators that the health of our environment and our economy depend on a thriving renewable energy industry, and that we cannot let congressional gridlock bring progress on clean energy to a screeching halt.

Brief Summary

Dramatic improvements in energy efficiency are possible in virtually every aspect of American life. We can encourage weatherization of buildings, deployment of more efficient appliances and equipment, and efficiency improvements in industry. Energy Star-certified homes use 30 percent less energy than other homes.
