Reduce Our Oil Dependence

What's New

In a huge victory for clean energy, President Bush signed an energy bill that will ensure fuel economy standards increase to 35 mpg by 2020. The bill, which passed with overwhelming support in both the House and the Senate, is the first time in over 30 years that Congress has acted to increase fuel economy. In 2020 the bill will save 1.1 million barrels of oil per day and save consumers $22 billion at the pump.

How You Can Help

We have enormous untapped power. We can harness the wind and sun to power our future and leave dirty, dangerous energy behind.

We’re calling for 100 percent renewable electricity nationwide by 2030. Ask the president-elect to embrace a new energy future. Click here to take action.

Brief Summary

Solving the energy crisis through clean, renewable energy will be one of the biggest challenges facing the next president. But we can reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Through improved gas mileage, better transportation choices and clean farm-based fuels, we can easily save more than twice the amount of oil we import from the Persian Gulf every year.

Plug-in hybrid cars that go over 100 miles on a gallon of gas already exist.
